Welcome to the Calgary Toy Show & Sale Newsletter, November 2024 edition!

Thanksgiving Toy Show Report

We’d like to thank everyone who made the Thanksgiving Toy Sale another big success. Despite the warm, sunny weather on the holiday weekend, we still had more than 850 visitors to the show, with consistent foot traffic throughout the day. We also attracted media reports from Radio-Canada and Global TV. We’re grateful for the ongoing support from vendors, visitors, volunteers and our hosts at the Edgemont Community Centre.

Inn From the Cold Donation

This was our first show with a charity partner and it was a pleasure to work with Inn From the Cold, the largest organization in the Calgary region dedicated solely to families experiencing a housing crisis. We are proud to have donated $1,000 to Inn From the Cold after the Thanksgiving Toy Show to help them continue their incredible work. The picture above shows Graham with Ron Smith, Inn From the Cold’s manager of resource development!

At an Open House in November, we were able to tour the charity’s wonderful new Neoma centre downtown, which contains emergency and transitional shelter accommodation, and affordable housing units, as well as being home base for the specialist staff. We encourage you to click here to read more about Inn From the Cold’s work or here to make your own donation.

Coming soon: Spring Toy Show

We’ll be back at the Edgemont Community Centre on April 12th for our Spring Toy Show. Vendor tables will go on sale in mid-January: no tables will be sold or reserved before that time. You’ll need to be signed up to the vendor mailing list in order to receive the booking details. If you’d like to join the vendor mailing list, head to the Contact form on the website. Our most frequent vendors will again have a priority booking window.

We are aware that someone claiming to represent the show is attempting to scam vendors. Please, do not deal with anyone other than Graham or Jon. The only way to book a table is via our usual email address.

And finally…

  • We published a new Visitor guide in time for the Thanksgiving show, but would welcome any suggestions of how to improve it, useful tips from vendors to visitors, etc
  • Last call for the 2024 Toy Show Model, a specially customized Porsche diecast car. We have a few left! Get in touch via the Contact form or email if you’re looking for a holiday gift for a collector. The cars are $15 each or 2/$25 and we’ll throw in a couple of toy show stickers as well!

That’s it. We wish you a happy and healthy holiday season, and look forward to seeing you again in the New Year!
